Me & Miss Jones is a one-of-a-kind jewelry company based in Manhattan that specializes in chic, custom pieces--for both people and pets. Stephanie Jones, founder, owner, and New Yorker by way of Clarksville, MO, brought Me & Miss Jones to life in 2010 after many "inspiration sessions"--creative moments that included her daily observations of New York City style and life. One of the most salient features of this city's style, according to Jones? The nameplate--a piece of jewelry adorned with a person's moniker that can come in the form of a ring, necklace, or earrings. "Everywhere I looked while walking down the street or riding the subway, I'd see these nameplates, especially during the Carrie Bradshaw years," says Jones, "and it occurred to me that there's something both bold and beautiful about wearing your name around your neck. It's big and it's in your face, but it can also have the elegance of being made out of precious materials."
After Jones embraced the style herself, and accrued quite a collection of nameplates, some of which even included the names of transient boyfriends, she decided she needed a name (besides her own) that she would never tire of--that she could always wear with pride. And what better name than that of Frank--Jones's beloved Ragdoll cat (who, incidentally, has the fur coat of a prince, the personality of a king, and the gumption of a mobster). Jones then purchased a pinky ring and had it customized with "FRANK," which she proudly wore out at night, to brunch on Sundays, and even to work. The compliments were overwhelming. And then it hit her: Frank needed a nameplate of his own! After all, what better way to honor your pet than to have his name dipped in gold? So Stephanie collaborated with a jeweler to design the perfect piece for her feline companion. During the process, she decided to make the nameplate both pet and person-friendly, something that was both chic and edgy, and yet strong and durable. That way, "FRANK" could be worn on the cat's collar or on one of Jones's necklaces, depending on who had bigger plans that night. Needless to say, the transferable "FRANK" nameplate was a huge hit, which ultimately encouraged Jones to start her own customized jewelry company. Since then, Me & Miss Jones has been providing beautiful, unique nameplates for pets and the proud owners of those pets.
Although Me & Miss Jones prides itself on its luxurious creations, it is still an eco-friendly company, using recycled materials when available.
